It was gathered that the suspect passed away Thursday night while trying to take from a transformer in Choba Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

It is believed that the victim had actually gone to take from the transformer before power was brought back and he was trapped.

A source, privy to the incident, who provided his name as Chika Emmanuel, said the people of the location woke Thursday early morning to see dead body of the victim on the change.

Chika said they do not understand whether the victim had or was a vandal committed suicide on the electrical power facility.

He stated: “We woke up today to see the dead body of a young man on the transformer around Choba court.

“It resembles he came to take from the transformer before PHED restored light and he was eventually trapped.”

“Some individuals said he survives on Choba. We do not understand so know whether he committed suicide.”

The Head, Corporate Communications, PHED, John Anonyai, who confirmed the development stated a declaration would soon be raised on the event.
