UCL: You don’t deserve it – Stuart Pearce slams Man United for equalising against Atletico in 1-1 draw

Former West Ham United manager, Stuart Pearce has told Manchester United they did not deserve a 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie in Madrid.

The former Premier League star believes Ralf Rangnick’s team were very poor throughout the game and deserved to return to England defeated.

Substitute, Anthony Elanga scored a late equaliser for United, with the Swedish youngster cancelling out Joao Felix’s fantastic first-half header.

Manchester United were lucky not to have conceded more than one goal in the first half as they were void of ideas throughout most of the game and struggled to create chances.

Elanga’s goal was only one of two shots on target the Red Devils had during the game.

That late goal gave Ralf Rangnick’s side the advantage heading into the second-leg in Manchester.

But Pearce told talkSPORT that the Red Devils ‘didn’t deserve’ the equaliser, after a poor performance in Spain.

“Elanga comes on, they get the ball into Fernandes who plays a great pass and the goalkeeper is wrongfooted.

“United are back in it – they don’t deserve it but they’re back in it,” he said.
