Oh No! 2 Killed, Nine Injured As Truck Crashes Into Anambra Police Checkpoint

According to a report by The Nation, 2 individuals, consisting of a little kid, lost their lives on Friday in a dreadful motor mishap along Ihialla-Onitsha expressway, Anambra state.

9 individuals, consisting of 4 ladies, continual differing degrees of injury in the crash which included seven lorries consisting of an articulated truck.

An eyewitness said the crash took place around 11 am when the driver of the truck who was on speed lost control while approaching a cops checkpoint.

“The chauffeur rammed into 6 automobiles on a queue at the checkpoint, killing numerous travelers and hurting others inside the vehicles,” he said.

Confirming the occurrence, Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi said the corpses of the deceased were transferred at the medical facility morgue.

He commiserated with the departed household, and wished fast healing of the hurt, just as he warned drivers to avoid speeding and keep to the advised speed limit.

He stated, “unidentified driver of an orange Mercedes 911 truck UWZ556XA had a deadly roadway traffic crash with 6 other vehicles at Ken Maduako’s oil and gas filling station by Ihialla-Onitsha Highway today 18th February 2022 at about 11:02 hrs.

“Others are Nissan Mini Truck with Reg No: ATN 787 XB; Suzuki Mini Pick-Up with Reg No: AKL169 XE and Toyota Hiace bus.

“63 people, consisting of 52 male adults, 10 female adults, and 1 male kid were associated with the crash.

“1 male adult and 1 male kid were killed, 9 people jeopardizing 5 male grownups, and 4 female grownups sustained varying degrees of injuries, while 52 people were rescued unhurt.

“FRSC rescue group from Ihiallia Unit Command rushed the victims to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Ihiallia, where a male child and a male grownup were confirmed dead. The dead victims were transferred at the hospital morgue.
