Anyim responds to killing of northerners, cows in Abia

Former President of the Senate, Anyim Pius Anyim, has actually reacted to the killing of about 8 northern livestock dealers and slaughtering of a number of cows in Abia State. their cows. Responding to the development, Anyim who spoke at his 61st birthday event in Abuja on Saturday, condemned the killing of the livestock dealers.

“I want to assure my fellow citizens and ladies that as I turn 61, I will commit the rest of my days in pursuit of peace and progress in this country. Nigeria needs to be excellent once again,” he said.

Anyim, who called for a minute of silence in honour of the victims, described the killing as “condemnable and craven”, advising all Nigerians to reside in peace with one another.

“We should live in peace and in safety in this land. It is a commitment that everybody irrespective of your faith, regardless of your geographical area, irrespective of your party affiliation.

“We need to commit to developing a tranquil and safe and secure country which we shall take pride in,” he said.

DAILY POST reports that dignitaries consisting of President Muhammadu Buhari and former President Goodluck Jonathan participated in the occasion which drew Nigerians from all walks of life.

In his speech, Buhari, represented by Mr Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), admired Anyim’s contributions to the advancement of the country, describing him as a patriotic Nigerian who constantly puts the country first and a stabilising voice in Nigeria.
