Anambra: Gunmen murder visitors, intern months after bagging first class
Gunmen in Anambra, this week, eliminated some visitors including Sule Mathew, a former intern with PRNigeria, a media organization.
The bereaved family confirmed the awful event involving the 21-year-old at the weekend.
Mathew studied Information and Media Studies at the Faculty of Communication, Bayero University Kano (BUK), and just recently finished with first-rate.
The techie and others were murdered at Ekwulobia in Aguata LGA. Their remains were deposited at the General Hospital in the town.
Jemila, the sister, disclosed that Mathew, his employer and the rest embarked on the trip in a personal vehicle.
She said the foes ambushed them and opened fire. Just the chauffeur, who rushed out on sighting them, faced the bush.
“When we could not reach Sule and heard of the incident, we sent his image to the mortuary. We got feedback that he was recognized among those eliminated.”
“He was on his way to Anambra from Abuja when the shooters assaulted”, Mathew’s good friend from Diploma days, Gambo Ibrahim complained.
Salis Manager, a coursemate who interned with Mathew, stated he was prepared to participate in the coming National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation.
Supervisor recalled that the deceased lost his dad months to final evaluations but still finished as the department’s Best Student in August 2021.
“He was on Gidan Yanci Fellowship, a 6-month programme that coaches and trains young resident activists to promote democratic reforms”, he revealed.
Mathew came from Ayangaba in Kogi State. He was the co-founder of Hostutors, a social business that makes knowing in vocational and formal education accessible.
