Fire guts 12-room residential building in Ilorin
A 12-room residential building in Ilorin Kwara State was on Thursday gutted by fire, damaging belongings worth countless naira.
The fire catastrophe took place at about 00:55 hrs in the structure situated in Alajagusi Compound, opposite B.H.M filling station in the state capital.
About eight rooms were destroyed by the inferno but firefighters were still able to extinguish the fire on time.
According to the spokesperson of the state fire service, Hassan Adekunle, the fire was as a result of an electric power surge.
Director of Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, prompted citizens of the state to always cultivate the routine of turning off their electrical appliances prior to bedtime.
He stated this would assist them to avoid the chances of fire outbreaks in their numerous houses and likewise assist them to considerably reduce it.
