Ondo: Resident physicians down tools over attack by client’s son
The Association of Resident Doctors at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital, UNIMEDTH, in Ondo State has begun a two-day warning strike after a patient’s kid attacked among its members.
The resident physicians, who held serene demonstrations in Ondo and Akure all at once, required that enough security be provided in health center environments to prevent more attacks by patients or their family members.
A medical professional was on Wednesday attacked by a client’s relative while on task.
The attack, according to UNIMETH ARD President, John Matthew, was unnecessary.
Dr. Ibidapo Bolayemi, one of the opposing physicians, claimed that over 100 medical professionals have actually left the healthcare facility, leaving less than 45 doctors to look after clients.
“It’s regrettable that we’ve ended up in this precarious position. Over 100 staff members have actually left the health center, putting a pressure on us.
“To fix the issue, we ask the state federal government to work with additional medical professionals. We likewise want the federal government to ensure that the facility is adequately secured,” he said.
The healthcare facility’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Oluwole Ige, has criticised the resident medical professionals’ choice to go on a two-day warning strike in reaction to the attack on their coworker.
Dr. Ige, who slammed the medical professional’s assault, stated the strike was uncalled for because the scenario had actually been settled.
