EPL: Thomas Tuchel slams Romelu Lukaku after Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Man City

Chelsea supervisor, Thomas Tuchel, has criticised his striker, Romelu Lukaku after Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Saturday. City opened a 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League with Kevin De Bruyne shooting the house side to triumph in the 2nd half.

It was simply one shot on target for Chelsea during the video game, while Lukaku cut an isolated figure for the majority of the match.

The German gaffer pointed out that Lukaku had ‘many ball losses in extremely appealing scenarios’.

“I believe we had 8 or nine offensive shifts and we had no touches in package, that was a big issue today, offensive-wise, the front gamers, that was simply a lack of accuracy, an absence of timing, an absence of composure, you can not believe that you’ll get a great deal of half opportunities, shipments on a level like this,” Tuchel told BT Sport.

“We lost too many balls, a lot of balls too easily, that’s why we have a number like this, it was a huge issue in our video game today.”

Asked if Lukaku was getting the service he requires, Tuchel replied: “Sometimes he needs to do the service. I believe he’s included.

“He had numerous ball losses without any pressure, many ball losses in very appealing circumstances. He had a big opportunity– so he’s included in this.

“Of course, we wish to serve him but he’s part of the group and the efficiency upfront, particularly in the very first half, we can do much, far better.

“We need to do better since we had a great deal of transition opportunities in the very first half currently.”
