The Police Public Relations Officer, Bauchi State Command, Ahmed Wakil, in a statement offered to journalists in the state on Saturday, said that the occurrence happened on 9th January, 2022, following a report made by the victim’s mother at the Kirfi Divisional Police Headquarters.

Wakil, a Superintendent of Police, said, “On 9th January, 2022, one Maryam Abdullahi (24) of Anguwar Doya, Kirfi L.G.A, Bauchi State, reported at Kirfi Divisional police Headquarters that on the same date at about 6.00 pm, her husband, one Ali Lawan, asked her to bring him a mat to put down their daughter, Hajara (not genuine name), aged 3, to sleep.

“Later, she came back to the room and fulfilled Hajara lying down unconscious, sweating and throwing up through her mouth and nose; and her personal part was inflamed.

“On invoice of the report, a group of detectives was drafted to the scene and rushed the victim to the General Hospital Kirfi for instant medical attention. Doctors certified her to have actually been raped. The suspect was jailed and investigation is continuous after which the suspect will be charged to court.”

He likewise said that investigators of the Command who acted on intelligence, on 13th January, 2022 at about 2.30 pm, detained one Ya’u Haruna, 25, of Lim village, Bununu, Tafawa Balewa L.G.A for remaining in possession of one locally produced revolver, with one live ammo.

According to him, during examination, the suspect confessed to have, on 29th December, 2021 at about 3:00 am, criminally conspired with three of his gang members, now at big, armed with a gun, stormed your home of one Musa Adamu, 40, of Jambil, and abducted him to unknown location and demanded the sum of N8 million as ransom.

He stated the suspect was jailed in the process of gathering the ransom adding that investigation is ongoing and the suspect will be charged to court afterwards while efforts are being intensified to arrest his getting away accomplices.

Wakil specified that some other suspects were likewise arrested in connection with cases of kidnapping in Ningi and Alkaleri LGAs of the state.
