Win next election to honour Alao-Akala– Akeredolu tells Oyo APC

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has actually charged members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State to come together and win the next governorship election in the state to honour the late previous governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala.

Akeredolu offered the charge at Alao-Akala’s home on Friday during a condolence see to the widows, household and relative of the late APC chieftain in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

The Governor, who noted that Alao-Akala was committed to the unity and progress of the APC till end, stated the party should be more united in respect of the late former Governor.

Akeredolu included that the APC lost the last governorship election and should put its house in order to ensure that the coming election is won.

“You need to come together to fight because of him (Alao-Akala). He represented APC till the last. You lost the last election, you must not lose the coming one,” he said.

The Governor commiserated with the widows, children as well as the whole family of the deceased, urging them to take solace in the good work he did while in the world.

Akeredolu, who stated he received the news of the late previous Governor’s death with impolite shock, noted that he was a guy with a big heart.

“When I found out about the demise of my sibling, it was stunning to me. Stunning for many factors. Most likely, we would have met a week before his death, however since I was otherwise engaged. I didn’t opt for my ADC’s daddy’s birthday. We would have satisfied. I was to be there,” he stated.

“He was a man with a very large heart. Large heart because, as you would understand, we were at different camps. Not politics. I was just an attorney however on the other side versus him.

“Why I said he has a large heart; around the time we were in court versus him, I became President of the Nigeria Bar Association. He didn’t owe me any responsibility to honour me or host me a supper when I ended up being President. I am not from Oyo State. He hosted me to a supper and he stated I brought honor to Oyo state. Not many males can do that.”

He stressed that the late Akala lived well, saying after the late Chief Samuel Ládòkè Akíntọ́lá, Akala was another child of Ogbomoso who brought pride to the town.
