Interim coach of the Super Eagles, Augustine Eguavoen has revealed that keeping belongings and cutting Mohamed Salah’s products was crucial to beating Egypt in their 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, opening clash on Tuesday.

Nigeria cruised to a 1-0 triumph against the Pharaohs at the Roumdé Adjia Stadium, Garoua, thanks to Kelechi Iheanacho’s first-half objective.

Eguavoen’s men dominated the video game, bossing possession and developing more harmful opportunities than Egypt.

“We attempted to play high pressure at every given time, we know we can blend it up by ball ownership and going direct when essential,” Eguavoen stated at his post-match interview after the video game.

“So we have 3 things in mind, first in the mission was to win the game, and how do we win the video game? The process is keeping the ball and after that keeping Salah, attempt to cut him off the video game.”
