Two die in Osun Christmas eve accident

Two passengers have lost their lives as the Western Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, on Christmas eve, rescued victims of an accident that occurred around the Alade area, Gbongan-Ibadan road.

According to Yusuf Idowu, the Media Officer of Amotekun Osun, the rescue operation was in a joint patrol with the Amotekun Corps of Ondo State.

It was gathered that the accident occurred at about 11:20 pm on Thursday, December 24, 2021, in Alape Area Gbongan-Ibadan expressway.

“Two vehicles; ash colour Golf 2 with registration number SMK 591 AG and a 2018P white collie Toyota with registration number GNN 177 KD, white colour, collided as a result of high speed.

“Amotekun personnel on patrol got to the scene of the crash within minutes and rescued some of the victims of the accident.”

Meanwhile, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Osun Sector Command has explained that the accident was a result of overspeeding which led to the loss of control by the driver of the two vehicles.

The spokesperson of the command, Agnes Ogungbemi also revealed that the driver of the golf car and one passenger died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash.

The Amotekun personnel and the Federal Road Safety Corps took the injured driver to the hospital for proper medical attention, while the deceased bodies were deposited at the morgue.
