The Kebbi State government on Thursday said it has taken delivery of 57,810 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines from the Federal Government.

This was disclosed by the state’s Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Muhammad Ja’afar, while briefing newsmen in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday.

He assured residents of the state that the vaccines were safe, adding that the frontline healthcare workers would be the first to receive the vaccines.

The commissioner also said the vaccination would commence as soon as the modality for the inoculation was completed.

He said, “We have received the first batch of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines early morning of today.

“A total number of 57,810 doses and devices have been allocated and delivered to Kebbi State.”

“Frontline health workers will receive, then followed by other health workers and strategic political leaders of the three tiers of governments.

“It will also include the traditional and religious leaders, and other frontline workers as media, security agencies and bank officials as well as citizens of the state.

“The vaccines have been stored at the state cold medical stores where they will be transported to Local Government Areas (LGAs) cold stores.

“From there to solar fridges where the vaccination will continue to the 21 LGAs of the state”.
