Former England striker, Peter Crouch, has advised Steven Gerrard to stay at Rangers amid reports linking him with a return to Liverpool to replace manager, Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp is under intense pressure at Liverpool after the club lost 1-0 against Fulham at Anfield on Sunday.

The result against Fulham was Liverpool’s sixth consecutive home defeat this season.

However, Crouch, a former Liverpool teammate with Gerrard, wants the ex-midfielder to continue his managerial career at Rangers after guiding the club to win the Scottish Premiership title on Sunday.

According to him, it is inevitable that Gerrard will manage Liverpool in the future, adding that the Reds legend should remain at Rangers for now and win more trophies with the Scottish side.

“I found myself wishing I was a footballer again on Sunday when I saw the footage of Stevie celebrating with his players on Saturday after they had beaten St Mirren,” Crouch told MailSport.

“They’re the moments it is all about – being together, reflecting on something magnificent. And what Stevie has done in Glasgow is magnificent.

“I do not want anyone to argue with me about the quality of Scottish football. Rangers have been outstanding, and their record of 77 goals and 9 conceded is outstanding. Even if Celtic had been in form, they could not have lived with that.

“There is no reason for Stevie to take a job in the Premier League now. He can stay at Rangers and keep driving them forward. I am interested to see how they will do against a Slavia Prague team I rate in the Europa League and keep winning.

“He’s going to be Liverpool manager one day we all know that but there is no reason to leave Rangers now. I am absolutely delighted for him. I hope and I believe this will be the first of many trophies.”
