LaLiga: Mikel Arteta to replace Koeman at Barcelona
Chelsea head coach, Thomas Tuchel, has backed referee Stuart Attwell’s decision to ignore VAR and deny Manchester United a penalty against the Blues in the Premier League on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
Man United were angry not to have been awarded a penalty in the first half when Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Greenwood duelled for the ball, which bounced up and appeared to hit both players’ arms inside the 18-yard box.
VAR called Attwell, but the referee decided not to award a spot-kick after consulting the on-pitch screen.
Reacting, Tuchel told Sky Sports: “The referee [Stuart Attwell] did everything right.”
He added, “The performance I am very satisfied about.
“‘We are not in that moment yet to be clinical and win games like this. I am happy if we go on like this, we are a very difficult team to play against us.”
Chelsea remains unbeaten since Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard last January.
