EPL: Jamie Carragher calls Thiago liability, hits out at Alisson after Leicester defeated Liverpool
Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has slammed Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker for lacking confidence after his latest error contributed to Leicester City’s second goal on Saturday.
Ferdinand also defended Liverpool’s new signing, Ozan Kabak, after Leicester defeated the Premier League champions at the King Power Stadium, thanks to three goals from James Maddison, Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes.
Becker, who committed two blunders during last weekend’s 4-1 defeat against Manchester City, was again at fault as Liverpool conceded three goals against the Foxes in the space of seven minutes.
The Brazilian rushed off his line when Kabak had appeared to have the situation under control before Vardy pounced on the keeper’s error to put Leicester ahead against Liverpool.
The 28-year-old collided with Kabak and the ball rolled kindly for Vardy, who happily netted the goal.
Reacting to Becker’s error, Ferdinand told BT Sport: “That clip there the keeper’s got to take control of the situation. Scream to his new young centre-half [Kabak]. A new, young centre-half ‘get out the way’.
“Again that’s a lack of confidence. We never put mistakes at this man’s door until this season.”
Liverpool’s next match is against RB Leipzig in the Champions League on Tuesday.
