Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has provided the latest injury update on Thiago Silva ahead of his side’s Premier League clash with Sheffield United on Sunday.

Silva sustained a thigh injury during Chelsea’s 1-0 victory against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

The Brazilian defender has been a key player at the heart of Chelsea’s defence, but the 36-year-old was forced off the pitch after just 36 minutes of the London derby with an injury.

Speaking after the game, Tuchel said that Silva might not recover in time for the Sheffield clash this weekend.

“It will be very tight for Sunday’s game, only two days recovery,” Tuchel told Chelsea’s official website.

“It is too early to give a diagnosis because I saw him very briefly with a big strap around his muscle.

“We will have to wait until tomorrow so we can confirm it, but I think for Sunday he is a big doubt.”

Tuchel’s men are currently in the 6th position on the Premier League table with 36 points from 22 points.
