COVID-19: Eden Garden, others sealed in Abuja, FCTA targets clubs
A Mobile Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has ordered that four relaxation spots be sealed off for two weeks for violating the COVID-19 protocols.
Ikharo Attah, Head of Media and Public Enlightenment, FCTA COVID-19 Task Force, made the disclosure to reporters in Abuja on Monday.
The affected businesses were Eden Park and Garden in Utako; Byuan Resources Ltd.; Skychef Park and Garden; 7th Option Park and Leisure Services.
Attah said 12 persons arrested at the locations late in the night would be arraigned in a fortnight.
“We observed most of them (gardens) operate beyond the period allowed. The persons in the shops didn’t comply with physical distancing. No face masks and no hand washing points.
“They were totally in breach of the COVID-19 protocols and the judge, Magistrate Egbe Arafe, in his wisdom issued the seal off order for two weeks.”
Attah hinted that the task force would go after defaulting night clubs, other hangout spots and parks operators.
The official added that FCTA would not yield to demands to reopen Millennium Park, Jabi Lake and others shut down due to fears of COVID-19 spread.
