Kankara abduction: Lai Mohammed gives real reason terrorists attack schools
The Nigerian government has decried the incessant attacks on schools in the Northeast alleging that students are being abducted to embarrass the government and inflict damage on the credibility of Nigeria.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, disclosed this while featuring on a Special Forum of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He also insisted that terrorists were after soft targets deliberately to attract global concerns.
“These are all terrorists who want to embarrass the government and catch the attention of the entire world.
“The psychology is to inflict the most serious damage on the credibility of a country, giving the impression that if you cannot protect the most vulnerable in the country, such government is incompetent,’’ he said.
Mohammed spoke at a time when over 300 students were abducted from a Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina State.
However, following intervention from security agents, the students have been released.
