Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has confirmed that striker, Sergio Aguero, will not start Saturday’s Premier League derby against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Guardiola said this following Man City’s UEFA Champions League 3-0 victory against Marseille on Wednesday night.

Aguero scored for Man City against Marseille as the Argentine made just his fifth appearance of the season for Guardiola’s men following his return from knee and hamstring injury.

The 32-year-old came off the bench to score Man City’s second goal as they defeated Marseille at the Etihad Stadium.

Asked if Aguero could start the Manchester derby this weekend, Guardiola told Sky Sports: “No.”

“His instinct to score will always be there,” Guardiola added. “He’s had three or four training sessions, and the reaction was good.

“He had 25 minutes and scored a goal. Step by step. Will see the reaction tomorrow.”
