A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Bua Foundation, has donated three fully-equipped ambulances and 50,000 face masks to the Gombe State Government as part of efforts to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19).

Presenting the items in Gombe on Monday to Gov. Inuwa Yahaya, the Chairman of the foundation, AbdulSamad Rabiu, said that the gesture was part of the group’s contribution to further reduce the spread of the pandemic, even as it appears to be receding in the country.

Rabiu, who was represented by Dr. Idi Hong, said that the foundation voted over N7 billion to support governments across the country to stem the spread of the pandemic.

He added that the provision of the ambulances to Gombe State was to ease the means of conveying COVID-19 patients and those with other life-threatening ailments for treatment.

The chairman of the BUA group added that studies had shown that people who complied with proper use of face mask had minimal number of infections; hence the need for the donation.

He commended the governor for efforts toward fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and pledged continued support of the foundation to achieve the desired objectives.

Rabiu, a former Minister of State for Health, said there were business opportunities in Gombe State which the BUA group would be partnering with the state government to explore.

Responding, Gov. Yahaya thanked the foundation for the gesture, assuring that the state government would make judicious use of items donated.

The governor also expressed his administration’s readiness to partner with the foundation on business potential in Gombe State.
