Court remands three men for allegedly robbing Osun Senator
Three men have been remanded by an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court over an alleged armed robbery.
The accused persons were; Muslim Saheed, Kazeem Ganiyu and Olaleye Olawale were alleged of rubbing Senator representing Osun west, Adelere Oriolowo.
The trio committed the offence on October 24, 2020, around 7:00 pm at Senator Adelere Oriolowo’s farm and residence in Iwo.
The Police Prosecutor, ASP John Idoko told the court that the accused persons and others still at large conspired among themselves to commit a felony to wit armed robbery.
He said the accused persons armed themselves with cutlasses, iron rods, sticks and other dangerous weapons and robbed Senator Oriolowo of six plasma television set, mattresses, kitchen utensils, agro-allied materials and chemicals imported valued N2,000,000 dresses, cable network decoders, deep freezer, milk processing machine, tilling machine and other valuables.
The offence committed is offence contrary to and punishable under Section 1(1) and section 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special provisions) Act Cap R|| Vol.14 Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The accused persons, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges slammed against them by the police.
Their defence counsel I.T Tewogbade objected to the charges claiming that the police had already tendered a sister case of stealing and theft against the accused persons in another Magistrates Court in Iwo.
In his ruling, Magistrate Modupe Awodele transferred the case to Iwo Magistrates Court and to be heard on November 4, 2020.
The Magistrate thereafter remanded the accused persons at Ilesa Correctional Centre.
