Bauchi: Fear grips Bogoro homeowners as shooters snatch female, infant
Fear has grasped locals of Bogoro Local Government Area of Bauchi State following Monday night’s abduction of a 40-year-old lady, Hajiya Kadijah Audu Ardo of Tsamiya town in Boi location of the local government.
The woman and her baby were stated to have actually been abducted by heavily armed shooters in the middle of the night, while her partner was far from house and taken to an unknown destination.
The Joint Task Force stationed at Boi, in a statement offered to reporters on Tuesday, informed that the lady and her child were abducted and taken to an undisclosed place on Monday night.
“At about 12 hours, villagers reported to our workplace the kidnapping of one Kadijah Audu Ardo by greatly armed shooters.
“We rapidly mobilised our personnel and transferred to the neighborhood. Currently, we are doing whatever possible to protect the life of the lady and her baby,” the statement checked out in part.
A resident of Tsamiya village in the area, Mr. Joel Tuta, informed journalists that people in the area now reside in fear following the abduction.
According to him, “We are residing in worry since this incident occurred the other day (Monday). The shooters came in the dead of the night and eliminated Khadija and her child.”
While speaking on the abduction, the victim’s husband, Mallam Audu Ardo, said he was not in the house when the shooters attacked his house and removed his wife and kid.
He then appealed to the kidnappers to launch his wife and child, saying that they are both innocent.
“I went to see my cows in one of the villages close by and decided to pass the night there. I was not aware anything will occur.
“I was not in the house when they came. I wish to attract the abductors to please release my other half and her baby. They are innocent,” Ardo pleaded.
Reacting to the incident, the town head of Boi, Mr. Bala Ibrahim Likita, expressed shock, stating that it was the very first time such a thing might take place in his domain.
“I’m surprised that for the very first time kidnappers have accessed into my domain,” he said.
Efforts to get the Bauchi State Police Command’s response on the abduction showed abortive since the time of filing this report as the command’s spokesman, SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, might not be reached.
