Gov Darius Ishaku under fire for allegedly selecting just Christians

Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has kicked against the decision of Taraba State guv, Darius Dickson Ishaku, to appoint only Christians as principal officers of the Taraba State University (TSU).

The Islamic rights group also questioned the governor’s supposed uneven appointments of permanent secretaries which, which according to them, favoured Christians just.

MURIC, in a statement by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, challenged the guv to describe his choice to such actions.

The group described that the Taraba Muslim Council had just recently disclosed that Muslims who applied the positions scored highest marks in the interview.

The uninhabited positions were for the Vice chancellor, registrar and bursar of TSU, and MURIC stated it was amazed that the Christian candidates who, according to them, scored less, were given the exalted positions.

“This is highly horrible, insanely outrageous and incredibly repugnant. Guv Darius Dickson Ishaku is sacrificing quality on the altar of mediocrity,” the group stated.

The group stated that Governor Ishaku has actually set a dangerous precedent by appointing apparently less competent Christian and dropping an incomparably qualified Muslim, describing the action of the governor as the height of articulated religiousity.

“The public needs to know the circumstances surrounding the consultations of Christians just as key officers of the university,” MURIC stated, including that the governor needs to put his cards on the table for all to see.

MURIC said that the federal government has not been to supplied any answer as to how Prof Sunday Bako, Mr Joseph Bibinu and Mr Abraham Bagu become vice registrar, chancellor and bursar respectively.

“Can the Taraba state governor explain why Engr. Mohammed Yusuf Bose was sidelined and 2 of his juniors in rank, Samuel Lauya and Godfrey Dame were appointed permanent secretaries?

“Is there likewise any explanation for designating a Christian who is junior to Abdulkadir Nagari, Hashimu Hammawa and Dr. Shehu Kara?”
