Panic As Suspected Fulani Herders Kill Three Relatives Of Benue State Governor, Ortom

Chief Press Secretary to the guv, Nathaniel Ikyur, in a declaration said the victims were eliminated on Saturday at about 5:00 pm.

According to SaharaReporters, 3 kinsmen of Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, have been killed by gunmen believed to be Fulani ranchers.

Ortom is from Tse-Apera, Nzorov District under Guma Local Government Area of the state.

Chief Press Secretary to the guv, Nathaniel Ikyur, in a statement said the victims were eliminated on Saturday at about 5:00 pm when the gunmen laid an ambush and blocked the Lordye-Gbajimba Road.

The declaration reads, “At about 5:00 pm Saturday, February 19, 2022, believed Fulani gunmen killed two males and a woman while returning from a burial along Iordye-Gbajimba Road in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

“The victims were riding on a motorbike when they were assailed and shot dead by the killer herdsmen. The two passed away on the area from gunshot injuries while the other was completely macheted to death.

“Soldiers connected to Operation Whirl Stroke recovered the bodies and deposited the remains at Gbajimba General Hospital.

“Sadly, this has actually been the plight of Benue indigenes in the hands of Fulani herdsmen who have attacked the state in a bid to take over our ancestral lands.”

The latest event comes a few days after five persons including a daddy and his child, were killed by thought armed herdsmen in an attack on Tse Udeghe community, Mbakpa Council Ward and Ahumen neighborhood in Gwer West Local Government Area of the state.
