Munachi Abii, a former beauty starlet, rapper and queen, has actually said appeal pageants don’t prepare the participants for what lies ahead.

Abii, who won one of the most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (2007 ), in an interview with Hip television, said, “Being a model was really interesting. Sadly, I seemed like I was thrust into the deep end (too) quick (ly). It is not just about me. I feel it’s a charm pageant industry thing.

“Beauty pageants never ever really prepare one for what lies ahead. They simply inform one to put oneself together which’s about it. They tell one that whatever one does, one ought to ensure one does not disrespect the brand name, at least in the first year. There is a lot more to it which I had to find out along the way.”

Speaking on why she became a rapper, she stated, “From there, I became a rap artist. I constantly wrote music. I had friends in the music industry, so they brought me along. Usually, beauty queens are expected to be vocalists but I did not want to be like everybody else. I wanted to stand apart and rapping was something that stood out. Till date, I have not stumble upon any beauty queen that raps.”
