    AFCON 2021: Four countries get approved for round of 16 825670622 173 At least 4 countries have actually gotten approved for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON, round of 16. Burkina Faso became the most recent country to book their location in the 2021 AFCON last-16 after playing a 1-1 draw with Ethiopia on Monday. Burkina Faso completed in the 2nd position with four points in Group A, behind leaders and host Cameroon (7 points). The other three countries that have because scheduled their location in the AFCON round of 16 are Cameroon, Morocco and Nigeria. Cameroon was the first nation to qualify for the AFCON round of 16 after triumphes over Burkina Faso and Ethiopia. Morocco was the second nation to receive the knockout phase after 2 wins over Ghana and Comoros. Nigeria, on the other hand, qualified for the AFCON round of 16 at the weekend after beating Sudan 3-1. The Super Eagles had defeated seven-time African champions Egypt 1-0 last Tuesday. The last Group phase matches will continue on Tuesday evening. Malawi will face Senegal, while Zimbabwe will encounter Guinea.

Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris

Following the death of Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris, the Kaduna State Government has declared three days mourning in the state.

The Special Adviser to the Governor Nasir el-Rufai on Media and Communication, Mr Muyiwa Adekeye, announced this in a statement this morning.

Adekeye said public offices would open on September 21 and September 22 but “there will be a public holiday on September 23 to honour his memory’’.

The statement was titled, “Kaduna declares three days mourning for late Emir of Zazzau”.

It read, “The Kaduna State Government has declared three days of mourning for the late Emir of Zazzau, HH Alh. Shehu Idris. Public offices will open as normal on 21 and 22 September 2020.

“There will be a public holiday on 23 September to honour his memory.

“Flags will fly at half-mast during the mourning period.”

The emir died at the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna on Sunday at the age of 84.
