Two Suspected Internet Fraudsters Arrested With Gun and Live Cartridges in Delta (Photo)

Two presumed web scammers are currently in the net of the authorities in Delta state.

The duo caught with weapon and live cartridges were captured by Eagle-Net Special Squad of the Delta State Police Command at Maryam Babangida Junction in Asaba, the state capital.

The suspects were identified as Daniel Anikpe and Chikeluba James Ani (both 27-year-olds) and one locally-made double-barrel handgun, three live cartridges, one jack knife, two wraps of substances thought to be Indian hemp, one Samsung Galaxy, one iPhone, two black berets, a driver’s license, one GT bank ATM card, one hand chain and 5 finger rings were recovered from them.

Delta state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe further exposed that they were detained throughout a routine stop-and-search duty by the police who intercepted a black Toyota Camry vehicle with Reg. No. ABH 911 GW with two male occupants.

The declaration read;

“After a painstaking search was conducted on the suspects and the lorry, one locally made double barrel handgun, three live cartridges, one jack knife, two wraps of substances believed to be Indian hemp, one Samsung Galaxy, one iPhone, 2 black berets, a motorist’s license, one GT bank ATM card, one hand chain and five finger rings were recuperated.

“Investigation later on exposed that suspects enjoy internet fraud and one of the Suspects Daniel Anikpe confessed that he got the gun about 8 months back from his good friend called Tata (surname unknown) who is presently in Ogwashi-Uku jail for an offence of armed robbery.

“He also mentioned that he bought the weapon at a cost of twenty-five thousand naira (# 25,000).

“He stated in the course of his cybercrime activities, issues bordering on sharing formula usually originates with his partners in crime, hence he purchased the gun to put in revenge on whoever attempts to swindle him of his ill-gotten cash.

“Investigation is ongoing.”
