EPL: What Arteta said about Partey, Aubameyang after Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Newcastle
Arsenal boss, Mikel Arteta, has said that Thomas Partey is a special player for the Gunners following his side’s 3-0 win over Newcastle United in the Premier League on Monday.
Arteta also said that he was pleased with captain, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s display against Newcastle United.
Arteta’s men defeated Newcastle at the Emirates Stadium, thanks to Aubameyang’s brace and a strike from Bukayo Saka.
Speaking after the game, Arteta’s was quoted by Arsenal’s official website as saying: “That is what he [Aubameyang] has done through his career and mentally you have to be really strong in order to do that, and come out of a difficult period where we miss his goals a lot and today he has come back and scored two and contributed to the team winning, which is exactly what we need. So I am really pleased for him.”
Commenting on Partey, Arteta added: “Obviously we have been missing Tommy, and he has this presence, this aura, that makes him a special player for us.
“Hopefully we can keep him fit because we can all see the difference he makes on the side and I think he was growing and getting better and better as the game was growing and evolving.
“He has all the characteristics that we need to make us better, that’s for sure.”
The result means Arsenal are now in the 10th position on the Premier League table with 27 points from 19 matches.
