Hanifa: I’ll instantly sign perpetrators’ death warrants if sentenced– Ganduje

Governor Umar Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has said that he will not lose a second in signing the death warrants of those behind the gruesome murder of five-year-old Hanifa Abubakar.

“I will abide by the constitutional arrangement as the Governor of Kano to assent to the death sentence in the scenario the judgment passed by the court against the perpetrators,” Ganduje assured.

He made this understood when he paid a condolence see to the killed schoolgirl’s household in Dakata/Kawaji along with his deputy, Dr Nasuru Yusuf Gawuna; Majority Leader, State House of Assembly, Labaran Abdul Madari; and other leading government functionaries on Monday.

“We have excellent confirmation from the court managing the process that justice would be done. No stone would be left unturned,” he divulged.

Ensuring that, “Whoever is found guilty of this heinous offense will also deal with death without squandering whenever. As a federal government, we have already started the procedure.”

“Our constitution provides that, when a death sentence is passed, it is the constitutional power of the governor to assent for the execution of the culprit. I guarantee you all that, I will not lose even one second,” he included.

On the speed of the case, he even more encouraged that there would be a quick dispensation of justice, adding that, “the government will take good care of the family of our late kid Hanifa of blessed memory.”

Ganduje also stated his federal government would do something about the schools affected by the tragedy.
